C3.4 SUBSTANCES AND BOILING POINT
LINKS
Each substance has its own boiling point – a particular temperature where it changes from the liquid state to the gas state (when heated in an open container). The boiling point of wax is 383°C.

Think for Yourself...

The boiling point of propanone is 56ºC: this is lower than the boiling point of water. What does this tell you about the particles of propanone?
