GROWING CRYSTALS |

We
can use a change in solubility with temperature
to grow crystals.
This
method will work for any substance where there is a reasonable
increase in solubility with temperature.
You must always
start by adding more than you can dissolve at room temperature.
The ‘extra’
will dissolve at a higher temperature and will come
back as crystals when the solution cools again.
The slower the
solution is allowed to cool, the fewer and bigger the
crystals. |
