particles are always moving in some way – they have
an energy of movement. This could be shaking on the
spot or moving from place to place. Watch the animation to
see how particles in the solid state move.
Heating gives the particles more energy of movement
– they are more energetic.
With more energy the particles move more quickly and violently.
