The particles are far
apart. There is nothing (empty space) between the particles. |

Remember that heating gives
the particles more energy, and that the water sample
in the gas syringe is very hot.

We cannot see individual
particles: we need billions in a clump before we can
see something.

The particles themselves have not changed, they are
just more energetic. It is still the same substance, water,
but now in the gas state.
