The total energy of a sample increases as the temperature
increases. At a higher temperature, more of the particles
in a sample have a high energy and fewer particles have a
low energy. This is a ‘snapshot’ of the particles
of a substance in the gas state:
For this substance, the holding ability of the particles is
not strong
enough to keep them together at either temperature.
