Notes on ‘pressure counts’ animation
It is helpful to get students to write down the number of
counts on each red section.
The red sections on each of the sides have the same areas:
although there can be some difference between the counts on
each side in a single ‘run’, over several ‘runs’
no particular side should have a consistently higher number
of counts than the other sides.
The particles in a real sample would be colliding with
each other as well as with the walls, but for simplicity
this animation and the following animation only show the
collisions with the walls (and with the surface of the object).
